A Rich Long History
Founded by the Romans over 2,000 years ago, the city has layers of history—visible in its architecture, museums, and neighborhoods like El Carmen, where narrow alleys and medieval walls give a glimpse into Valencia’s past.
Valencia enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year and boasts long stretches of sandy beaches like Playa de la Malvarrosa and El Cabanyal. Its relaxed, outdoorsy lifestyle is part of everyday life.
What can the city offer?
Valencia is the birthplace of paella, the most international Spanish dish and a great place for food lovers with vibrant markets, like Mercat Central o Colón Market, and lots of tapas bars, informal bars and Michelin-starred restaurants.
It holds also great festivals: Home to Las Fallas, a UNESCO-recognized festival with fireworks, parades and giant sculptures celebrating the welcoming of the spring in the beginning of march.
As an ancient city, there are plenty of historic Sites where you can enjoy a rich culture such as Valencia Cathedral, La Lonja de la Seda, and the City of Arts and Sciences (modern architecture).
